The Panda Shiitake HP (aka High Performance) 6'1" in Clear Glassing - Rhino Laminating
A refined, performance version of the shiitake for those that want the characteristics of the OG including speed and flow in a shreddy package. A few notable changes in dimensions and foil. The biggest addition is the concave in the entry of the board, the single concave helps give lift and quicker get up and go on the take off. This gives more of a shortboard feel.
This board is still designed to be ridden with some length but is very customizable, So for example Blake Peters (Panda Surfboards) is 5'11 71.5kg and rides a 5'10 regular shortboard but for this model rides between a 5'11 and 6'2 depending on the feel he's after and the waves. The longer you go the smoother and and more drawn out its going to feel.
Panda shaper Blake learnt his craft on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and is now part of the new generation of foam-mowers who are making successful in-roads on a global level. Constant reviewing of new technology and then taking full advantage of it, to create extremely accurate designs (whilst pushing and testing the limits of board function) is what drives PANDA forward as a highly adaptable company.
